Copying a device

SECURITY  Security level with access to CRM and object permissions to add, edit, and delete devices for organizations to which you have access

SECURITY  To request an RMA, Can request RMA Contract security settings enabled.

NAVIGATION  Left Navigation Menu > CRM > Search > Devices > context menu

NAVIGATION  Left Navigation Menu > CRM > Search > Organizations > Organization page > Devices accessory tab > context menu

NAVIGATION  Left Navigation Menu > Contracts > Search > Contracts > context menu () > View Contract > Devices > right-click menu

NAVIGATION  Dashboard > Device drill-in tables and widgets

1. Navigate to an existing device.
2. Select Copy or Copy Device.

The Copy Device page Organization field is populated with the source organization for the Device you are copying.

3. To copy the item to a different organization, clear the Organization field and begin to type the organization name.

Alternately, click the Organization selector icon and select an organization.

4. Click Create Copy.

The Edit Device page opens with selected fields pre-populated with data from the original item.

The following fields will not be copied:

Fields NOT copied	Description
When copying the item for the same organization
Serial Number	The serial number field will display the source device’s Serial Number preceded by “(Copy of) ", for example, “(Copy of) 123456789”).
Installed By	Installed By will display the name of the resource making the copy.
Installed On	Installed On will default to today’s date.
Reviewed for Contract	This setting will be cleared for the copied device.
System UDFs	Your custom UDFs will be copied.
Attachments, Subscriptions, and Tickets	Attachments, Subscriptions, and Tickets will never be copied.
Datto integration related fields (populated by Datto integrations when enabled)	Datto integration fields are set to default values and not copied from the original device.
NOTE  Inactive contracts linked to a device will not be copied.
When copying the item for another organization
If you copy the item to a different organization, the above items are not copied, and any organization-specific fields will not be copied, for example, Contact, Location, or Contract related fields.

5. Complete and update fields as needed and Save.
